Journey - Part VI

Kusuma's parents had arranged her meeting with a boy named Rajan for her. And this time, K couldn't say no to it because she had postponed her marriage for a very long time. Also, she had to respect her parents' decision cause they had waited for her approval so long. Now that the day had come, K was happy to get married. She just hoped this one would be her kind and she too would get into a very satisfying, fulfilling, funfilled, excited married life like her other friends. she just prayed::: "whoever this Rajan is, let him b my kind of a man ". The meeting was in the evening on a sunday. she was appropriately dressed for the occassion. She had worn a KSIC mysore silk blue colour saree with a sleeveless blouse. Kajal to accentuate her big eyes, a bit of shimmer, gloss on the lips , hmm... she looked gorgeous. . She had worn minimal gold jewellery to compliment the overall look. She was in her room upstairs when she heard her parents greeting Rajan and his family. They are here she thought. She peeped out of the window and saw a Honda City, Silver colour car parked in front of the house. She was very fond of big cars. She just hoped it was Rajan's . She came down when ajju came up and called her. Ajju said: "don't say no to him. He is wow. he looks rich too... check him out baby". After the customary exchange of Hi s and Hello s , K sat next to her mom in the chair that was deliberately kept opposite Rajan's.
She looked cool and composed and glanced at him once in a while , the traditional way. She looked at his watch from the corner of her eyes and thought:: "hmm... not bad, Omega". Rajan , 7 years older to her was an established architect. His father , a very well known advocate did most of the talking and K felt that he was a man of words. His mom, however, was the silent one ,letting the husband talk. Rajan was 5ft. 11 inches tall , dark and handsome. He looked groomed, classy and at the same time cool... She felt a little shy when Rajan looked directly into her eyes a couple of times when others were busy talking. She liked his sense of dressing. Van Heusen, formal beige coloured shirt with a black pant, black shoes, omega watch, his hair neatly combed back, nice perfume too..she liked it all.. K was the first one to start the conversation. So, tell me something about your interests she asked. Rajan lifted his eyes up and asked her :: Can we talk in private for a while pls???

Journey - Part V

"Row Row Row your boat, gently down the stream.... merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream". Kusuma taught this rhyme to all her kids in "Aakanksha" and she felt so happy when kids enjoyed singing this along with her. Yeah, "Aakanksha", her dream school which she started a year ago. Aakanksha , she had named it , meaning hope. She believed in bringing life into the lives of all those children who were the so called 'abnormal' kids.Kusuma hated this word though. This was infact one of the reasons that she quit her earlier school "Bhavana", where she had started off her career as a developmental psychologist.Immediately after her graduation, Kusuma had attended a workshop on "Kids with Special needs" . Her friend had forced her into this workshop and this had driven kusuma(K) to take up a course on child psychology. she was clear in her understanding of children's needs and her 2 years stint in 'Bhavana' had given her immense exposure into the teaching methods for children with disabilities. She couldn't tolerate 'Bhavana' 's emerging needs to earn more money. Neither could she tolerate anybody calling her kids 'abnormal'. She worked v. hard to set up "Akanksha". Funds didn't flow in easily. But she knew she had to do it for those little angels , those innocent eyes seeking an early intervention.

Journey - Part IV

Kusuma was not a beautiful one for sure. But there was something attractive about her.She was 5ft. 6 inches tall and was dusky. Her features were very bold in the sense that she had big eyes, broad smile and a big nose. She flaunted her long curly hair in a pony tail which actually looked good on her. She had just put on weight at the right places and had felt nice when one of her college boys said she was voluptuous. Her innate sense of dressing had made her more desirable to men. She was original and creative in her dressing , yet very simple. Her over all personality exuded a lot of charm and simplicity.

Journey - Part III

Kusuma got enrolled in a very good college for her I PUC. She had passed her SSLC with a good percentage. She was the second topper in her school and she had secured 70th rank at the state level. Her college had given her a cash prize and had awarded her with other gifts too. Her parents were very happy for Kusuma. They did not have big dreams for her though. They wanted her to finish graduation and get her off married. Little were they aware of Kusuma's desire to excel. All the eyes were on Ajitha who always managed to grab all the attention in and off school. He was a topper in SSLC., a rank holder at PUC and was pursuing his final semester Engineering in Electronics. It looked to Kusuma that this boy Ajitha was born to become a STAR. College to Kusuma was a big boon. She was a part of the theater group, magazine editorial committee, mad ads group, and the dance troupe. Only once when a distant relative of Kusuma had shown clear intentions of marrying her, did she and her family realise that Kusuma had grown upto be a smart 20 year old. She was indeed attractive.

Journey - Part II

Kusuma had thoroughly enjoyed her stay at her aunt's place. It was the MOST memorable one coz she experienced her first Crush this time during her stay. Wow... what a boy she thought. Kusuma was always in awe of class. She couldn't stand anybody "cheap and sub-standard". When her other friends used to date boys for the sheer fun of dating, she was one person who always looked for quality in men even at such a young age. She guaged them thoroughly even before talking to them. She was like a human X-ray machine. This particular boy was tall and handsome and spoke extremely well. He was Sameera's colleague. She met him in Sameera's office party. But, Kusuma knew that he had treated her like a kid. Sameera herself was 10 years older to Kusuma and this guy must have been something like 24 ish. His name was Shibu. Kusuma didn't like the name though, but the guy was particularly attractive. But Kusuma knew that this was not the age to fall in love . She had a vision, far ahead of others, she had a dream, which she knew she had to fulfill, because if not for her, she strongly believed that nobody else would. Besides, as a matter of fact she knew no man could fall for her looks. So, she was even scared to think of it.

Journey - Chapter I.

Kusuma was as usual very excited about her summer vacation. She had just finished her mathematics exams and one more paper of social studies, she would go to the next class, the 10th grade. She had not done maths particularly well, but she knew she would pass. More than the 10th standard, what excited her were those 2 months holidays which she wanted to spend with her aunt and cousins. She was very fond of them. Sameera, Utpala, her dear cousins loved her too and waited for her every vacation. Kusuma was good at social studies and she thought to herself that just a few hours of revision on the subject should do good. She discussed this issue of going to Aunt's house with her brother Ajitha. He was not very happy with the idea of sending her there as the house without kusuma would become lifeless. He always felt that Kusuma was the best thing to have happened to their house. Ajitha was close to Kusuma. They chatted for hours to gether on all the topics known and unknown only to furiate their 'AMMA'. But Kusuma was somehow successful in convincing Ajitha and Amma to go to Sameera's house. Kusuma made the things to do list that very night. Little was she bothered about her exams the next day!!
